On Febraury 22nd, Sheriff Staly met with the three kids who were chosen as November’s “Great Kid”. The awards are delayed in the presentations due to last years hurricanes and holidays.

The Great Kid award is given to three students, one from elementary, one from middle school and one from high school. They are nominated by the FCSO SRD’s and Flagler Schools employees.  They are chosen because they exemplify hard work in academics, respect, helpfullness and represent themselves and the school in a positive and impactful way.

“I congratulate each of these amazing students who represent their schools and our students in Flagler
County,” said Sheriff Staly. “This is a way to recognize our kids that make the right decisions that you
rarely hear about.”

Hunter Champion, attends Image School at Town Center, and he was chosen because of his great character and sense of responsibility. He noted one day as he was leaving school that he had not cleaned up the class garden, and asked his dad to wait, while he cleaned up the garden and put all the tools away. He always works hard and is always happy to help where he can.

Sofia Fretterd, attends Buddy Taylor Middle School. She was nominated because she is an engaging leader, and communicates well. She is involved with many school activities, projects around the school, and she is always showing off the school spirit, and smiling while doing it.

Kendra Smith attends Flagler Palm Coast High School, and was nominated because she is always trying to make FPC a better place. She helps cafeteria staff with lunch, helps with the SGA (Student Government Association), and is a teacher’s assistant in the Dean’s office. She is a great role model to her peers, shows the Bull Dog Spirit, and leads by example whenever possible.
