Caroline Johnson, Annie Conrad, and Mike Lagana with SMART have worked for weeks to try and catch a stray dog that had been living in the woods for weeks possibly longer. The dog was in danger of being hurt and had been killing chickens; there was no luck in finding an owner.

After weeks of working on a trap and feeding the stray, Annie and Mike then spent 5 hours laying in the dirt and being in the woods with Caroline Johnson, to capture the stray. The dog was then taken to East Coast Animal Hospital to be treated for open wounds from living in the country, flea and tick treatment, vaccines, deworming, and other preventative treatments.

During his trip to the vet he had to be sedated in order to get him inside, so they expect the dog has seen some trauma. The dog is not neutered or chipped and is roughly two years old. The dog is still very fearful of humans and is currently with Annie and Mike.

SMART is seeking donations to help with this poor dog, and his vet bills and other needs. He will be sent off to a foster home with someone who can work with him and his needs and fears. You can donate to SMART multiple ways; PayPal, Credit Card, Venmo, Cashapp, or Zelle: (386)264-2288.
