In court last week, now 22-year-old Jose Yair Flores Del Angel was sentenced to 10 years in prison followed by 10 years of probation with sex offender designation. He was adjudicated guilty on two charges of Lewd or Lascivious Battery Sex Act with a Victim Over 12 but Less Than 16 for his role in two cases within Flagler County.

“This case really highlights why Detective Conrad’s soft demeanor and investigative experience is so important to the Major Case Unit, this agency, and this community,” said Major Case Unit Sergeant George Hristakopoulos.

“We hope this brings some closure for the victim and they are receiving the counseling they need,” said Sheriff Rick Staly. “This wicked pervert tricked young girls into having sex with him and now he can think about his actions in prison where he belongs. Thank you to the Bunnell Police Department for their assistance and the State Attorney’s Office and the judge for holding him accountable for his actions. Anyone who targets our children’s vulnerability will be investigated and prosecuted to the highest extent.”

A 21-year-old male is behind bars today after Major Case Detectives (MCU) conducted an investigation into sextortion threats made towards a female student at a local school, leading to the arrest of Jose Yair Flores Del Angel of Satsuma, FL.

In December 2021, a Flagler County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) School Resource Deputy was advised that Flores Del Angel made sexual threats towards a 14-year-old student. Detectives assisted Bunnell Police Department (BPD) in conducting an investigation which resulted in a sexual relationship being discovered. Utilizing investigative techniques, detectives linked Flores Del Angel to another case in Flagler County involving a 13-year-old female.

Both victims advised detectives of similar details to relationships and encounters with Flores Del Angel, meeting him on a social media site where he claimed to be 17-18 years of age. A full confession from Flores Del Angel was obtained by MCU detectives for both cases and two arrests warrants were granted.

“This sick and twisted individual preyed on young children,” Sheriff Rick Staly said. “This disgusting person is now in jail where he belongs and can’t hurt another child. Great work by our detectives in solving two cases and to Bunnell PD for their assistance. I hope this arrest brings some closure to the victims.”

On May 2, Flores Del Angel turned himself in for Lewd or Lascivious Battery with a Victim over 12 but less than 16 and Lewd or Lascivious Molestation with a Victim over 12 but less than 16. He is being held at the Green Roof Inn on a $50,000 bond.
