Two-time swimming Olympian, Nimrod Shapira, holds water safety close to his heart. So much so that he founded AQUAfin Swim School, a branch of which opened here in Flagler County in 2022.
On Saturday October 28th, from 11am to 2pm, both Mr. Shapira and AQUAfin Swim School will partner with local water safety non-profit, WaterSafe Inc., to host the first fall WaterSafe event.
Shapira says, “There are 10+ drownings in the U.S. every day. This is a personal experience for me. I want to help change these statistics and have more kids safer around water.”
The fall WaterSafe event is free and open to the public, featuring real pirates, mermaids, and Olympian Nimrod Shapira. A variety of community vendors will be at the event including Synchro Belles, Vincent’s Clubhouse, Salus Medical Training, The Flagler County Fire Department, and many more.
AQUAfin Swim School is North Florida’s premiere swim school led by two-time Olympian Nimrod Shapira. AQUAfin Swim School is the only indoor swimming facility in Flagler County. AQUAfin’s mission is to build a community and educate swim safety through a positive experience.
WaterSafe Inc, was founded in 2016 in response to the pediatric drowning incidents that occured in Flagler County. Drowning is a preventable tragedy, and it can be prevented by 88% with formal swim lessions. WaterSafe has a swim lesson scholarship program that provides swim lessons to families who cannot afford them. The scholarship program is year-round with lessons at AQUAfind Swim School Flagler Beach.
