“Every time it rains hard… We are sandwiched between 2 homes that were built at a substantially higher elevation as you can see, no fault of the current homeowners. This is why people are bitchin. Homeowners in the ‘gully’ are responsible for taking care of the problem which is costly and could/should have been avoided. I have never lived in a city before where this was such a heinous, preventable problem. Btw, at the end, that’s our neighbor’s utility cover that floated 100ft into our yard,” Teri Bonds posted online on the Next Door app here.

Teri is one of the many who have recently started speaking up about the issues with standing water and flooding on their yards and properties after new construction has accelerated in the area. Many residents are upset that they are being forced to spend thousands of dollars to attempt a fix that is not even guaranteed to solve the flooding of their properties.

Many of the residents have banded together and formed a group, called Flooded in Flagler on Facebook.
