“See Something, Say Something” Leads to Arrest of Undocumented Juvenile for DUI, Grand Theft Auto, Bribery

Shortly after 5 p.m. on July 19, a motorist flagged down Deputy Harrison and reported a truck had hit a guardrail and was in the wood line. After responding to the location, the deputy found a Hispanic male attempting to dig a white Isuzu truck out of the ground with his hands.

The male initially provided several false names and ages. An agency-approved Spanish translator was used to communicate with him and he was determined to be Edwin Eliseo Maldonado Domingo, 17, an undocumented migrant who did not possess any identification. His speech was slurred, his eyes were watery and red, and he struggled to maintain his balance. He was also unable to maintain his focus on simple tasks.

A strong odor of alcoholic beverage came from the inside the vehicle and emitted from his breath.  In addition, several sealed and unsealed beer bottles were found in the bed of the truck. At first, he stated that he had not been drinking but later confessed to drinking five beers.

He also became uncooperative, attempting to re-enter the truck, and had to be physically restrained. He was asked several times but refused to participate in Standardized Field Sobriety Exercises (SFSEs).

Domingo was arrested for DUI with Property Damage, no Florida Driver’s License (never issued), and Obstruction without Violence. He was also charged with providing a false name and possession of alcohol by a minor.

While the DUI investigation was conducted, it was also determined he had stolen the truck from his employer. He was additionally arrested for Grand Theft Auto and transported to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility. While there, he was given a breathalyzer test which resulted in a 0.187 and a second result of 0.191. The legal limit is 0.08.

Deputies were unable to make contact with any parents or guardians, as Domingo was unable to provide clear contact information, and no identification was found on the names he provided after checking several law enforcement databases.

While in the rear of Deputy Harrison’s patrol vehicle, Domingo offered him money to call him an Uber so he could go home. He was informed that was bribery, and he stated that in Mexico, bribery works. Domingo was then also arrested for Attempted Bribery of a Public Servant.

The Department of Juvenile Justice would not accept Domingo into their facility. His father was eventually contacted and took custody of him.

“Thanks to the concerned citizen who ‘saw something and said something’ about the crash the juvenile was arrested before he could hit another vehicle and potentially hurt or kill others by driving drunk,” said Sheriff Rick Staly. “Not only did he think he could lie his way through everything and steal from his employer, but he even tried to bribe one of our deputies.”

Proactive Patrol Leads to Arrest of Alachua Man on Multiple Charges After Stuffing Drugs Down Pants

On July 21, Deputy Dorsey observed suspicious and nervous behavior from the occupants of a vehicle at the Circle K gas station on Palm Coast Parkway. A traffic stop was conducted after they committed a traffic violation at an intersection.

The passenger in the vehicle was identified as Michael Colaci, 40, of Alachua. When he was searched, deputies found the following in his possession:

  • A clear plastic baggie containing approximately 13.3 grams of methamphetamine was observed falling down his pants leg. He attempted to hide this item from law enforcement by stuffing it down his pants.

  • A clear plastic baggie containing approximately 3 grams of mushrooms was observed falling down his pants leg. He also attempted to hide this item by stuffing it down his pants.

  • A THC vape pen with a battery attached.

  • A THC vape cartridge.

  • An allergy pill bottle containing 13 Hydrocodone pills, was observed falling down his pants leg and he attempted to hide this item as well.

Colaci was arrested for Methamphetamine Possession w/intent to sell, tampering with evidence, Hydrocodone possession, hashish possession, marijuana possession, hallucinogen possession, and possession of drug paraphernalia/equipment. He is being held on $36,000 bond.

“Great job by Deputy Dorsey for his proactive patrol to keep our community safe,” said Sheriff Staly. “This is another reminder that if you come to Flagler County, and you’re carrying or selling poison here, you’re not going to be able to hide it – in your pants or anywhere else. Instead, you’ll find yourself spending time in the Green Roof Inn.”

Palm Coast Man Arrested for Soliciting Prostitution, Burglary

On July 20, a female was performing cleaning duties as a contract cleaner at a vacation rental property located on Selborne Path in Palm Coast.

A male, later identified as Vasfi Ismailovski, 77, entered the unlocked residence without permission. He approached her with his arms open and asked her for a kiss. She stated that she told him no and that he needed to go outside. She grabbed her phone and exited the residence. He then offered her $50 to have sex with him. The female stated she again told him that he needed to leave. He left the residence and returned to his house next door.

Upon questioning, Ismailovski stated that he only asked her if she could clean his home and that she declined. Ring camera footage was provided to deputies by the owner of the residence, which showed Vasfi unlawfully entering Emily’s vehicle twice before entering the residence. He appeared to rummage through her vehicle. Then, he is seen using the Ring doorbell before opening the closed but unlocked home door and entering the residence.

The following day, Ismailovski was arrested for burglary of a conveyance and soliciting prostitution. He was transported to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility and is being held on a $5,500 bond.

“Here’s an example of why it’s so important to lock your car and house doors at all times,” said Sheriff Staly. “This guy thought he could just walk to the neighbor’s house and victimize someone who was just doing her job. Thankfully, he won’t be able to do that again now that he’s spending time behind bars.”
