Peeping Prowler Pursued by Fearless Father

A Palm Coast Man and his wife were sitting in their backyard Thursday, September 12, when the woman saw a man creeping through the trees adjacent to their property. The couple yelled at the prowler, who ran.

Out of concern for his family on Friday, September 13, the man sat on his back porch in case the person returned. That night, the father told the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office (FSCO) that he saw the same man walk through his backyard and towards his 14-year-old daughter’s bedroom window. When the man walked around the corner of his home, he saw Damon Arthur Smith, 29, of Palm Coast, peering through his daughter’s window. The father then swung a bat at Smith and chased him away from his home. After a short chase, the father lost sight of Smith and immediately called FCSO.

When deputies arrived, they were able to develop Smith as the suspect, and when questioned, Smith admitted to being on the victim’s property. Smith also admitted to deputies he gets a thrill from walking around people’s homes.

Smith was arrested for Loitering or Prowling, Voyeurism – First Offense, and Aggravated Stalking of a

Person Under 16. He was transported to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility and is being held on an $86,000 bond.

Smith was also arrested in May 2013 for making a bomb threat at Flagler Palm Coast High School. Smith was 18 at the time of this arrest.

“This pervert said he gets excitement from peeping into other people’s windows, but this time, he came across a father protecting his daughter,” said Sheriff Rick Staly. “Thankfully, deputies tracked this pervert down and got him checked into the Green Roof Inn.”

Woman Attack Man with Steak Knives and a Bottle Opener

On Friday, September 13, Flagler County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home in Palm Coast about a woman attacking a man with a bottle opener and several steak knives.

The victim told deputies it started when he left Daileen Keller, 34, Palm Coast, at a bar because he wanted to leave, and she didn’t. Later that night, Keller and the victim were back together, and she started attacking the victim. Keller armed herself with three steak knives and a bottle opener. The victim said he hid behind a chair when Keller threw a knife at him. At that point, the victim tried to disarm Keller, but she stabbed him in the forearm with the bottle opener. The victim then tried to run away, and Keller threw two knives, hitting him in the lower back and his right ear.

When deputies arrived, the victim was bleeding from two puncture wounds and a laceration. Keller was arrested for Domestic – Aggravated Battery and Domestic Battery. She was taken to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility on a $12,500 bond.

“Let this woman’s arrest be a lesson to all: violence is never the answer when you’re upset with someone,” said Sheriff Rick Staly. “At the end of the night, instead of sleeping it off at home, she got a bunk at the Green Roof Inn.”
