On March 24, 2010, Donahue was reported missing, last seen leaving his parents’ home in Nokesville, about an hour southwest of Washington, D.C. but the case became cold. Recently, according to investigators in Virginia, they received new information and reactivated the investigation. Detectives discovered the victim and Hickerson were seen leaving the victim’s parents’ home and returning to the victim’s home nearby. Donahue was not seen or heard from again and is presumed deceased by Virginia authorities. His remains have not been located.

During the investigation in Virginia, Hickerson was connected to a burglary at Donahue’s home just days before his disappearance. The reactivated investigation resulted in Prince William County, Virginia detectives obtaining a warrant for his arrest.

Hickerson had been living in Palm Coast since 2022.

“This shows there is no such thing as a simple traffic stop. This one ended with a fugitive meeting justice who was wanted for a murder that occurred more than 14 years ago.” said Sheriff Rick Staly. “If you’re a fugitive, we will catch you regardless of where you ran from and take you to jail.”
