The City of Palm Coast is providing an update on storm debris collection efforts following delays due to high levels of storm debris statewide. Although initially scheduled to begin on October 16, debris collection began on October 21 as crews adjusted to the volume of debris in our area, which was greater than anticipated.

Additional trucks have been deployed to accelerate the cleanup, and city staff are actively assisting with the efforts. Crews are currently focused on collecting vegetative debris, with over 12,000 cubic yards already removed from neighborhoods across 700 loads utilizing a fleet of 15 trucks.

As part of the cleanup strategy, construction and demolition (C&D) debris will be addressed during a second pass. To expedite the process, the city is mapping out pickup routes to efficiently collect this material once the first pass for vegetative debris is completed.

City crews are working tirelessly, dedicating 12-hour days, six days a week to these operations. All Public Works resources are focused on debris removal, with only essential safety-related or time-sensitive projects continuing.

Crews have completed vegetative debris pickup in the C, F, K, L, LL, and S sections. The next focus areas are the W, R, P, and E sections. The city anticipates completing the first pass of vegetative debris collection by mid-November.

The City of Palm Coast thanks residents for their patience and understanding during this extensive effort. While we are working diligently to address all debris, we ask for continued cooperation as we navigate the significant volume left by the recent storm.
