Arrest Made for Battery on Law Enforcement Officer, Narcotics Found During Traffic Stop
Flagler County Sheriff’s Office deputies made 15 arrests this past weekend between 6 p.m. on Friday, February 14, 2025, and 6 a.m. on Monday, February 17, 2025. Deputies handled 807 calls for service and made 138 traffic stops.
Man Arrested After Striking Deputy Attempting to Defuse Verbal Altercation
On Saturday afternoon, deputies responded to a reported physical disturbance on Selma Trail in Palm Coast. When they arrived, they observed four individuals standing in the roadway engaged in a verbal altercation. Deputy Evan Bishop contacted one of the subjects, later identified as Ty Jackson, 24, of Palm Coast, who was actively yelling at the others.
As Deputy Bishop attempted to defuse the situation and separate the parties, he ordered Jackson to walk to a patrol vehicle. On the way to the car, Jackson repeatedly turned back to yell at the other subjects and attempted to maneuver around Deputy Bishop to re-engage the other subjects. As Deputy Bishop tried to prevent him, Jackson swatted at Deputy Bishop’s arm.
Deputy Bishop then attempted to secure Jackson, which Jackson resisted by locking his arms in front of his body. Deputy Rick Stanford arrived on the scene and assisted in securing Jackson in handcuffs and placing him in a patrol vehicle.
Deputies then contacted the other three subjects, who all stated the altercation was strictly verbal and that nothing physical had occurred up to that point.
As a result, Jackson was arrested for Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer and Resisting an Officer without Violence. He was transported to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility, where he was later released on a $2,000 bond.

“If you batter a Deputy Sheriff, you’ll end up in jail. It’s as simple as that,” said Sheriff Rick Staly. “Our deputies were trying to do their job and defuse a disturbance before it became more serious, but this guy could not control his temper and got himself a trip to the Green Roof Inn charged with a felony.”
Traffic Stop Leads to Narcotics Arrest
On Saturday evening, while conducting traffic enforcement, Deputy Vincent Mistretta conducted a traffic stop after observing a traffic infraction. As he was conducting the traffic stop, Deputy Mistretta smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle. The driver, Kyle Cardaropoli, 37, of Bunnell, stated that he had marijuana in the vehicle but did not have a medical marijuana card.
Deputy Mistretta asked the occupants to exit the vehicle and located marijuana, hashish, and a pipe with THC residue. Cardaropoli stated that the items all belonged to him.
Cardaropoli was arrested for Possession of Cannabis (20 Grams or Less), Possession of Hashish, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was transported to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility, where he was later released on a $3,000 bond. He was issued a warning for the traffic infraction.

“Our deputies are well-trained to look beyond traffic infractions. If you are going to drive around with illegal narcotics, you should not commit a traffic infraction unless you want to visit the Green Roof Inn,” said Sheriff Staly.
