Flagler County Sheriff’s Office deputies made 29 arrests this past weekend between 6 p.m. on Friday, February 28, 2025, and 6 a.m. on Monday, March 3, 2025. Deputies handled 699 calls for service and made 251 traffic stops.

Man Arrested for Threatening Neighbors with Weapon

On Friday night, deputies responded to a report of threats being made by a neighbor. According to the victim, Roy Johnson, 67, of Palm Coast, walked up to a Ring camera on their home and held up a knife, stating, “You see this? I’m going to stick this up y’all’s asses.”

Johnson has a history of harassing his neighbors, with deputies being called to the residence on three occasions within the past year.

Deputies reviewed the surveillance video and attempted to contact Johnson at his residence, but he did not answer. Based on the video evidence, the victim’s statements, and Johnson’s repeated history of harassment, deputies determined that Johnson was wanted for Written or Electronic Threats to Kill or Commit Bodily Harm and Aggravated Stalking.

Deputies began searching the area to locate Johnson. A few hours later, they located him as he returned to his residence. Johnson was arrested and transported to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility, where he is being held without bond.

“Nobody should have to deal with a neighbor who keeps harassing them and makes them feel unsafe in their own home,” said Sheriff Rick Staly. “I hope this guy learns an important lesson on how you should treat your neighbors, or he’ll learn the hard way sitting in the Green Roof Inn.”

Man Arrested for Trespassing, Stealing from a Construction Site

On Saturday afternoon, deputies responded to a report of a residential burglary at a home under construction on Clementon Lane in Palm Coast. According to the property owner, a male in a black Chevrolet Silverado was seen on surveillance video driving onto the property, which had a visible “no trespassing” sign posted, and dumping various items into the dumpster. The male then entered the residence and stole a large piece of sheet rock, placed it in the truck bed, and drove off. A few minutes later, the male returned to the construction site and returned the piece of sheet rock.

Through investigative means, deputies located the suspect vehicle and identified the driver as Daniel Salazar Herrera, 53, of South Daytona, Florida. Salazar Herrera was located with assistance from the South Daytona Police Department. When questioned, Salazar Herrera stated that he took the piece of sheet rock but then returned it after determining he did not need the sheet rock and feeling guilty. He was arrested for Trespassing on a Posted Construction Site, Burglary of an Unoccupied Structure, and Petit Theft. He was transported to the Volusia County Branch Jail, where he is being held without bond.

“Although he ultimately returned the item he stole, he should have known better than to break the law and take it in the first place,” said Sheriff Staly. “Trespassing on a construction site is a felony and so is stealing from the site, even if you return what you stole. Let this be a lesson to construction site owners on the importance of installing no trespassing signs and cameras to protect your property, and a warning to thieves that if you commit a crime on a construction site, you’ll likely be caught on camera and will end up in jail.”
