The free training program, which begins on September 20 and runs through October 20, will teach skills such as disaster preparedness, fire safety, light search and rescue, and team organization. The 30-hour course will be taking place from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Emergency Operations Center. Registration is required and can be accessed by visiting www.flaglercounty.gov/emergency and selecting “Volunteering & Training” from the menu.
“The program as an invaluable partnership between the community and professional first responders,” said Emergency Management Director Jonathan Lord. “CERT allows our residents to train with subject matter experts. Previous experience is not necessary – just a desire to learn and help others.”
