During the arrest she was also arrested for Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia after detectives located a small baggy containing a crystalline residue.  Detectives utilized Flagler County Sheriff’s Office’s new MX-908 Mass Spectrometer to identify the substance.

“I want to thank everyone who ‘saw something and said something’ by calling with tips about suspicious activity,” said Sheriff Rick Staly “This poison peddler is now locked up in the Green Roof Inn and her poison has been confiscated, thanks to our Special Investigations Unit. Let this be another warning, if you’re selling drugs in Flagler County, you’ll find yourself spending time locked up.”

Bunnell Man Arrested for Child Neglect Following Marijuana Overdose by Toddler

On June 23, Deputy Huzior responded to a residence in Bunnell after suspicious incident was reported that turned out to be an overdose/poisoning.

FCSO was initially notified that Flagler Beach Police Department (FBPD) took a walk-up complaint in which the individual reported that his niece’s child, a 15-month-old, was visiting their father at his residence in Bunnell and had to be taken to Advent Health for medical treatment. The child was then transferred to a pediatric hospital for treatment.

Upon investigation, deputies determined the child was hospitalized after ingesting marijuana. The father, Cody Spiegelhalter, 26, of Bunnell was interviewed at his residence. The residence was in complete disarray with dog feces and urine on the floors, garbage throughout, and exposed nails and plumbing. No working air conditioning was observed in the residence.

Spiegelhalter stated that he rolled a marijuana cigarette for himself but set it down to go to the restroom. When he came back, his daughter had eaten most of it. She then began having medical issues and he took her to the hospital.

While speaking with Spiegelhalter, deputies observed there was loose marijuana all over the residence, within reach of a toddler. A small amount of mushroom and THC wax were also in plain view. Spiegelhalter was arrested for Child Neglect without Great Bodily Harm. He is being held on no bond.

“This could have had a tragic ending. Thankfully, this child was removed from this very unhealthy environment,” said Sheriff Staly. “Based on his irresponsibility, this guy will never be Father of the Year or even for a day, and he will be spending time at the Green Roof Inn where he belongs.”

Intoxicated Loitering and Prowling Leads to Arrest in Palm Coast

On June 24, at 2:35 a.m., Deputy Sanders was dispatched to a residence on Utah Place in Palm Coast where the homeowner stated that he and his wife were awoken by someone trying to enter his front door. He reported that he yelled at the subject, but he refused to leave. When units arrived in the area, they located James Turner, 40, of Bunnell in front of another residence on Utah Place. Upon reviewing the homeowner’s Ring camera video footage, Turner is confirmed as the male opening the front screen door and trying the locked door handle on the front door.

While securing James, deputies smelled a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from him. When asked to identify himself, he initially refused and his speech was slurred. As he refused to give an explanation to deputies about his presence in this location and his conduct, he became extremely irate and screaming at deputies. Turner was arrested for Loitering and Prowling and disorderly intoxication.

“This is a great example of why it’s important to always follow the 9 p.m. routine and lock up,” said Sheriff Staly. “Our residents should not have to fear for their safety in the middle of the night because of guys like this. Thanks to Deputy Sanders and the rest of our team for literally taking him off our streets and into the Green Roof Inn so our community stays safe.”
