Starting Monday (July 22), crews will begin refurbishing the original Pickleball Courts “A” at the Hammock Community Center. The three courts were dedicated in August 2016. Pickleball Courts “B,” which were constructed within the last two years, will remain open.

“After eight years, the original courts needed some attention and we are glad to be able to attend to them for our local pickleballers,” said General Services Director Mike Dickson. “We will get this work done as quickly as possible. We are glad to have the opportunity to ensure that all six courts at the Hammock Community Center are in optimal condition.”

They were initially constructed in 2016 for $57,905 and the costs covered ground clearing, excavation and filling, asphalt work, and an application of a sand-acrylic, color-coated playing surface.

“These courts have been well loved and well used,” Dickson said. “This work will breathe some new life into them.”
