Suzanne Johnston, Flagler County Tax Collector, announced a new service that is intended to serve severely disabled citizens or facility-bound individuals who are physically unable to visit an office but need to acquire a Florida Identification Card. The new service, called ID GO, will allow a person or their caregiver to contact the tax collector’s office and arrange an onsite visit from tax collector staff. Tax collector staff will capture a photo, application information, and any documents required for the issuance without the applicant having to
visit a tax collector’s office.
“Our office issued its first onsite identification cards this week for two of our local home-bound residents,” said Shelly Edmonson, Operations Manager. “This innovative technology has given us the ability to offer our residents a service that we have never been able to offer before. However, it is a labor of love that requires three team members and several hours to complete one identification card.” Johnston is excited to be able to offer this new service. “There is a need in our community to serve the severely disabled, our elderly residents in long-term care, and those who may need identification for end-of-life legal decisions,” said Johnston.
