Flagler County Sheriff’s Office deputies made 16 arrests this past weekend between 6 p.m. on Friday, September 27, 2024, and 6 a.m. on Monday, September 30, 2024. Deputies handled 792 calls for service and made 175 traffic stops.

Parent Attacks Deputies as Juveniles were Trespassed

On September 28, the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) received several calls about a group of juveniles riding bikes inside Walmart, cursing and yelling at people, and setting off car alarms. The group of seven juveniles, all under the age of 16, were found riding near Cypress Edge Dr. Deputies recognized several of the juveniles and contacted their parents to come and get their children.

One parent, Jonah Harrington, 34, of Palm Coast, arrived at the scene, ran up to a deputy and pushed him. Two other deputies attempted to detain Harrington, who hit a second deputy in the hand, and began pushing a third deputy’s arms away as they were trying to secure him in handcuffs.

Harrington then tried to run away, all while deputies were giving him commands to put his hands behind his back. Deputies quickly caught him and after a short struggle, deputies were able to handcuff Harrington. He was arrested for three counts of Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer and Aggravated Assault – Resisting an Officer with Violence and transported to Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility (SPHIDF). He was later released on bond.

“It seems the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. Parents were asked to come and get their children because they were causing a raucous in a store, but this parent thought he could attack our deputies,” said Sheriff Rick Staly. “If you attack a Deputy Sheriff, all you’re going to do is find out what the Green Roof Inn looks like. This guy won’t win father of the year by acting like this instead of teaching his kid right from wrong. Although, maybe his kid seeing dad being arrested taught him a valuable life lesson to not attack a law enforcement officer.”

Reckless and Speeding Motorcyclist Caught Days Later

On September 29, Fausto Ramos, 24 of Saint Cloud, Florida was arrested for Fleeing and Eluding of a Law Enforcement Officer and Driving with a Suspended License – Third Violation.

On September 25, Ramos was seen driving a motorcycle at the intersection of U.S. 1 and Belle Terre Blvd. at a high rate of speed. When deputies turned on their lights and sirens and attempted to conduct a traffic stop, Ramos fled instead of stopping. Deputies ended the traffic stop because of his high rate of speed and reckless driving.

On Sunday, Ramos was seen at a gas station on State Road 100 driving the same motorcycle. Deputies made contact with Ramos who eventually admitted to speeding away from deputies. He was arrested and transported to SPHIDF and booked on a $25,000 bond.

“You might get away initially, but we will always get you,” added Sheriff Staly.

Suspect Leaves Evidence and Returns to the Scene of the Crime

On September 30, the Flager County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a man who was rifling through someone’s car at a gas station on State Road 100. Turns out it was the manager’s car, who remembered the man was in the gas station earlier that morning and forgot his bag on a table. A short time later, the man identified as Brandon Ladue, 36 of Palm Coast remembered he left his backpack and came back to the gas station asking for his bag back. Instead of getting the bag back, he got a visit from deputies. The manager stated nothing was taken from her car, but unfortunately for Ladue who is a convicted felon, deputies found two guns, two knives and three magazines of ammunition were found inside Ladue’s bag. Ladue was previously convicted of Armed Burglary of a dwelling/Structure/ or Conveyance in 2012.

Ladue was arrested and transported to SPHIDF on five counts of Possession of a Weapon or Ammo by a Convicted Felon and is being held on no bond.

“This convicted felon wins the dumb criminal of the weekend award and earns a stay at the Green Roof Inn,” said Sheriff Staly.
