Be Prepared for Hurricane Milton; Rains Could Top a Foot

Flagler County officials continue to make its plans for the arrival of Hurricane Milton focusing on public safety – exercising an abundance of caution. Emergency Management Director Jonathan Lord is asking residents to do the same.

“All residents and businesses should be using the rest of today to finalize preparation for hurricane force winds as early as Wednesday morning,” Lord said. “Additionally, over the next week we can also expect upwards of a foot of rain.”

Lord asks that residents and businesses use today, Monday, to finalize preparations:

Get supplies like water, non-perishable food, batteries, flashlights, and medications. Find more specifics in the Emergency Preparedness Guide at www.FlaglerCounty.gov/emergency.
Discuss emergency plans with family, including where to go and how to communicate if separated.
Secure property from loose items that could become projectiles in high winds and ensure windows are secured.

Flagler County does not have any current evacuation orders. However, all residents in the following neighborhoods are urged to prepare for potential evacuations, with more specific information to be announced over the next 2 days.

- South of SR-100 (Moody Blvd)

  - Bulow RV Park & Homes, off Old Kings Rd
  - Polo Club West / Sweetbottom Plantation properties along Lexington Court / Ashland Way and that back up to the Bulow Creek
- Between SR-100 (Moody Blvd) and Palm Coast Pkwy
  - Neighborhoods off Lambert Ave
  - In Marina Del Palm the properties along the Intracoastal Waterway / basin
  - In Palm Coast Plantation:
    - Properties off South / North Riverwalk Drive
North of Palm Coast Pkwy

Residents who need sandbags to protect their homes, should purchase them at local hardware stores.

For those unable to do so, local governments are making them available at these locations while supplies last:

Countywide Residents (10 per household, self-service – please bring a shovel)
- Hidden Trails Community Center (6108 Mahogany Blvd., Bunnell) on Monday from 10 a.m. to sunset. (Sheriff’s Office will have assistance available 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.)
- Bay Drive Park (30 Bay Dr, The Hammock) on Monday from 10 a.m. to sunset. (Sheriff’s Office will have assistance available 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.)
City of Flagler Beach Residents (self-service – please bring a shovel)
- Santa Maria del Mar Catholic Church (915 North Central Ave.) beginning at 9 a.m. Monday.
City of Palm Coast Residents (10 per household, self-service – please bring a shovel)
- Indian Trails Sports Complex (5455 Belle Terre Pkwy.) beginning at 9 a.m. Monday.
