On November 5, Flagler County Sheriff’s Office deputies were patrolling the River to Sea Preserve Park on N. Ocean Shore Blvd. when they found a vehicle parked in the lot after closing hours.

Deputies approached the vehicle and located two people inside a 16-year-old girl and Oleg Brewton, 21, of Palm Coast. Deputies questioned the teenager about why she was with Brewton in a dark parking lot after park hours, and she stated they were there taking pictures with balloons for Brewton’s birthday.

While talking with the teenager, a deputy noticed a burnt blunt on the floorboard. A probable cause search was conducted, and deputies found three plastic bags containing methamphetamine, cocaine, and marijuana. Brewton was arrested for Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Cocaine, Possession of Cannabis Less than 20 grams, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was transported to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility and later released on bond.

The teen was released to her father’s custody, who said he was unaware of where his daughter was and who she was with.

“Parents, be the Sheriff of your home. Be involved in your children’s lives by knowing who they hang out with and where they are before something bad happens,” said Sheriff Rick Staly. “Thankfully, deputies on proactive patrols came across them and got this poison off the street. Hope he enjoyed his birthday gift of a free ride to the Green Roof Inn is one of our patrol ‘taxis.’”
