Tuesday night’s Palm Coast City Council Meeting was held at 6 pm, with C-Section residents coming forward to talk about their concerns with the short-term rentals in single-family residential neighborhoods. The Canal Community Coalition comprised of 94 local canal homes, spoke in numbers about the issues they are facing because of the mass amount of short-term rentals in the neighborhoods.

The City Council went to work immediately following public comment on the 2025 legislative priorities. During the presentation a wide variety of priorities from Old Kings Road expansions, to Water and Wastewater Utilities, Wells, and the Palm Coast Station 22 historic preservation. During the presentation, the city council members worked to prioritize the list of asks they plan to bring before the state legislature, with the top three slots being water and wastewater needs. This legislative priority process is still ongoing, with city council members meeting with the lobbyist later this week to continue fine-tuning the priorities that will be sent before the state legislature.

Also during the meeting, multiple resolutions were passed with many of them revolving around utilities, as well as the consent agenda.

During the final discussion, Mayor Norris requested consent from the city council, that in the event the city is sued over the appointment of council seat four, have the city attorney draft a formal legal opinion on paper to cover the City legally. Ponteiri stated her concerns about asking for legal interpretations before there was any trouble. Stevens echoed her concern stating that it was akin to shooting from the hip or putting the cart before the horse. Gambaro stated his opinion, saying asking for a formal opinion when there were no current legal troubles was inviting fire, and did not provide consensus, Pontieri did not provide consensus either.

Following the discussion with the acting city manager over local events happening this month, such as the starlight parade, the meeting was adjourned.
