Shortly after her firing on November 14th, 2024, Former Utility Director Amanda Rees sent a letter to the Palm Coast City Council, Acting City Manager Lauren Johnson, Chief of Staff Jason DeLorenzo, and City Attorney Marcus Duffy, highlighting different issues she encountered during her tenure as the Utility Director.
In this letter, Amanda Rees outlined the issues she saw within the department, the overpromising of utilities, her desire to issue a stop to new developments being connected to Wastewater Plant 1, issues with staff, and issues within HR. In her nine-page letter to the city, she explains her view of every issue, from issues within certain departments within Utilities to what she deemed unfair write-ups and what she called her wrongful termination.

The city received the letter via certified mail on December 5th, 2024. The city attorney, Marcus Duffy, did send a response to Amanda Rees, which you can view here. 12-16-24 to A Rees Attorney Letter In his short letter to Amanda Rees, he essentially states that the City will not be reviewing or revisiting its decision to remove her from the position.
