Flagler County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) deputies made 16 arrests last weekend between 6 a.m. on Friday, October 20, 2023, and 6 a.m. on Monday, October 23, 2023. Over the weekend, deputies handled 871 calls for service and made 164 traffic stops.
“Flagler County Sheriff’s Office deputies had another busy weekend,” said Sheriff Rick Staly. “One man learned the hard way that you can run, but you can’t hide from FCSO, even after several hours on the run he found out we don’t give up until we get our criminal. In this case, he went to jail tired and bitten by a Sheriff’s K-9 taking a bite out of crime! I also want to thank the observant citizens who called after seeing something and saying something.”
On Friday morning, FCSO deputies responded to the Florida Power and Light substation on South Old Dixie Highway after deputies were notified that there was a person on the property attempting to steal copper wire.
Upon deputies’ arrival, a male was seen fleeing from a Chevrolet Trailblazer on the FPL substation property. The female driver of the vehicle, later identified as Deborah Schroeder, was quickly taken into custody. Inside the vehicle, deputies located bolt and wire cutters, large knives, zip ties, and other burglary tools.
Initially, it was believed that two males had fled from the vehicle, but it was later determined there was only one male who fled. Over several hours, deputies searched for the suspect using Flagler County Fire Rescue’s FireFlight, an FCSO drone, and the FCSO K-9 Unit to assist with the search by Community Policing Division deputies.
Two citizens called in to FCSO Communications which helped to lead deputies to the male’s location. Charles Davis was apprehended by K-9 Deputy Marcus Dawson and his partner Baro.
Davis was arrested for two counts of Burglary of a Structure (Unoccupied/Unarmed), Grand Theft, Loitering and Prowling, Possession of Burglary Tools, Petit Theft, Theft of Copper or Other Nonferrous Metals, Resisting an Officer Without Violence, and Violation of Probation. Davis is being held at the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility on $35,500 bond. He had been on probation for Grand Theft.
Schroeder was arrested for Possession of Burglary Tools, Loitering and Prowling, and Accessory After the Fact. She is being held at the SPHIDF on $3,500 bond.
On Saturday, deputies conducted a traffic stop on a black Audi near Railroad Street and East Court Street in Bunnell. Upon contacting the driver, later identified as Jyrius Lawrence, a handgun was visible on the driver’s floor.
Deputies determined that Lawrence was on felony probation for Carrying a Concealed Weapon. Upon a search of his vehicle, deputies located two baggies of marijuana, two bottles of vodka, and a Glock 48 firearm with an extended magazine. Conditions of his probation prohibited him from being out after 7pm and from possessing alcohol or drugs. He was on probation for Carrying a Concealed Firearm.
Lawrence was arrested for Carrying a Concealed Firearm, Possession of Marijuana, Manufacture/Deliver Drug Paraphernalia, Resisting an Officer Without Violence, Possession of Alcohol Under 21, and Violation of Probation.
On Sunday, deputies conducted a traffic stop near Old Kings Road and Kingswood Drive in Palm Coast. Deputies determined the passenger, Preston Parrish, was a fugitive from Broward County for Burglary and Petit Theft. Parrish was then arrested for his warrant.
Following a search of the vehicle, deputies located marijuana, fentanyl, two Glock handguns, and approximately $3,891.24 in cash. The driver, Derrick Tisdale, was arrested for Possession of Fentanyl and two counts of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.
Both Parrish and Tisdale were transported to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility. Parrish is being held with no bond and Tisdale is being held on $17,500 bond.
